Episode 012
Learning how to be an artist is more about accepting yourself as an artist than anything else. Once you shift your mindset and give yourself permission to explore freely, you’ll find that progress comes not from perfection, but from the courage to make mistakes, create “bad art,” and practice consistently. Whether you’re sketching, painting, or experimenting with textile crafts, each piece becomes a step forward. Even in rug hooking, embracing approaches like naked rug hooking or exploring the raw charm of primitive rug hooking allows you to discover authenticity in imperfection. Just as digital creators learn to remove background from images to highlight the true subject, artists must strip away self-doubt to see the core of their creativity. The real artistry lies in showing up, experimenting without judgment, and trusting the process that gradually shapes your unique voice.
